Let me first say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Chamber meeting last night. We had a full room and, if the attendance continues to grow, we might need to move to the larger room which would be a great problem to have.
Thank you also to Andy Jeffery from the town council and Mayor Simon Thornton for their very informative update on what is happening in Godalming, alongside a thank you to Mary for providing a progress report from Dementia Action Alliance and explaining how we can all get involved.
We hope that those of you who attended the meeting, and the fantastic curry afterwards (thank you to Abdul at The Wharf!), enjoyed the evening and please let us know if you have any feedback.
As mentioned last night, the Chamber only exists to support its members so please do contact me or one of the other committee members if you feel that there is anything new that we could or should be doing as a Chamber. To start the ball rolling by naming a few possible ways that you could take part:
1. Members have the opportunity to give a short presentation at one of our meetings if you have any exciting news to share or would like to let others know more about your business.
2. We are also always looking for businesses who would like to sponsor an event or networking evening that you feel would be of interest to your fellow members.
3 . Come along regularly to our many varied events. In particular, over the coming weeks, we have:
The next Chamber Lunch Club at Bel & The Dragon on Friday 29th September – please book your place here.
Then we have what looks set to be our most popular training event yet, the “Can We Help You Generate More Leads” evening from 5:30pm on Wednesday 11th October. This will be a fantastic evening to learn about how to use Google Adwords more effectively with the experts and at just £5 including wine and nibbles this is tremendous value. There will be a lot to learn for everyone, whether you want to learn how to use AdWords effectively yourself, want to send the person who runs your marketing strategy or want to bring a whole team along from your business. Please spread the word to your friends and associates and please book your place here.
4. Finally, we are looking to strengthen our voice as a Chamber and the best way for us to do this is to represent as many local businesses as possible so please sign up as a Chamber member. You can do this here and your membership will run for 12 months.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update and for choosing to support your local Chamber. We look forward to working with you over the coming months and making the Chamber bigger and stronger than ever in order that it can remain the best place for businesses of all types, ranging from retailers to service producers and from homepreneurs to large organisations, to get to know each other, to work together and to combine our voices in the local area.
Euan Davidson
Chamber President, on behalf of the Godalming and District Chamber of Commerce and its committee
