Godalming and District Chamber of Commerce update 29th August 2017

Following the summer break, I am pleased to report that we have a lot to look forward to over the coming weeks.

We are looking to make the full meetings that we hold every other month as informative and enjoyable as possible. The next meeting is from 6pm on Monday 11th September at the Wilfrid Noyce Centre. As well as an update from the Chamber, we are holding interactive question and answer sessions with Simon Thornton the Mayor of Godalming and Andy and Suzie from Godalming Town Council. We will also have wine and nibbles – please click here for more information.

I am delighted to say that some of us will then be going to The Wharf in Godalming from 7:30pm for the Chamber Curry. Everyone is welcome and there is a £16 charge per person to cover a welcome drink (wine/beer/soft drink of your choice), papadums and a buffet of main courses, rice and naan breads. In order to ensure that the venue can cater for the appropriate number of people, please book your ticket here.

We are then back at Bel & The Dragon on Friday 29th September for another not-to-be-missed Chamber Lunch Club – please book your place here.

October is then due to be a very diverse month, starting with the “Can We Help You Generate More Leads” evening at 5:30pm on Wednesday 11th October. This will be a fantastic evening to learn about how to use Google Adwords more effectively with the experts and at just £5 including wine and nibbles this is tremendous value – please book your place here.

We are then due to hold another retailers evening event on Tuesday 17th October (more details to follow) before we return to the Stag for the Friday Lunch Club on 27th October – please book your space here.

We have also been asked by the Godalming Rotary Club to spread the word about their “Cyclathon” (static bike challenge) on Saturday 30 September at the Godalming Fitness Gym to raise donations through sponsorship for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and the Kent Surrey Sussex Air Ambulance. Fuller details can be found on the event website: http://cyclathon-rotarygodalming.co.uk but they are looking for teams of four from local organisations, schools, businesses and private individuals to compete on brand-new static bikes, raising sponsorship money for the charities. It should be a great fun day out. They are also looking to the local business community for some limited direct financial sponsorship, to cover overhead costs such as T-shirts and prizes. This will of course be acknowledged in publicity materials. Please contact them for more details at contact@cyclathon-rotarygodalming.co.uk

Finally, if you still have not done so, please sign up as a Chamber member. You can do this here and your membership will run for 12 months.

Thank you for taking the time to read this update and for choosing to support your local Chamber. We look forward to working with you over the coming months and making the Chamber bigger and stronger than ever in order that it can remain the best place for businesses of all types, ranging from retailers to service producers and from homepreneurs to large organisations, to get to know each other, to work together and to combine our voices in the local area.

Euan Davidson
Chamber President, on behalf of the Godalming and District Chamber of Commerce and its committee
